April, 2002 | "In the Light of Day" by Belial
When I first encountered "In the Light of Day" on ff.net, I was on a fanfic binge with the campus computers. I had printed out at least ten different stories, but this was the one that kept me plastered to the pages. I litterally couldn't sleep until I found out what happened! I have always been fasinated by alternate endings to storylines, not to mention I loved season five, so, Belial get's the Giles's Collection award. She drew me in and didn't let me go.
June, 2002 | "Dry Kind of Love" by Tanith
In all honesty, I've never been much into "future fics," but like they say, keep an open mind. I had seen "Dry Kind of Love" posted at a lot of Buffy/Spike sites, so I figured I'd take some of my own advise and try it out. Tanith tells you at the beginning the facts are revealed through the story, and that makes this story even more complex. I simply fell for the complexity of "Anne" and "William" as well as Zoe. Watch for the sequel...
July, 2002 | "Ten Thousand" by Wisteria
Wisteria has a certain style in her writing. She conveys so much through exposition and setting than with actual words. That takes major talent, something I don't have the patience to write for too long. But "Ten Thousand" was so beautifully written that it blows away any other season six/season seven interlude in my opinion. It's a tale about Spike's journey both across continents as well as through himself. She shows real growth over the months and travels for the newly souled bleached blonde vampire. Not to mention she shows us that demons and vampires are known to others outside the Hellmouth...
