August, 2002   |   "100 Years of Solitude" by Isabelle

It seems no matter where I turn on fanfiction sites, Isabelle's story "100 Years of Solitude" was everywhere! I was put off of it at first because of the length, but when summer came around with no job and no school, I figured it was a prime oppertunity to finally read it. And all I can say is WOW! I'm not big on settings being far into the future, but this is the definate exception to the rule! Isabelle introduces an entirely new world and makes you comfortable within it. Set 100 years after the events of "The Gift," the Scooby Gang is long gone, but Spike is still fighting the good fight. He's noticably changed and somewhat hardened by life without Buffy, and though the story has an entirely new "cast" of players, Spike, Buffy, and appearances by Whistler make the feel of this fanfic a homey one. I highly recomened this one to anyone who wants to read an epic tale of what love can do to a person over the course of a century.

April, 2004  |  "No Power On Earth"

This is definately a first. This award is given to Circe for a...Spike/Xander Slash story! >.o Usually the thought of these two together squicks me out. I mean, I'm not really interested in male relationships, but I really don't see the connection some do between these two characters. But, because I read a premise for this one on AllAboutSpike.com and was going to be meeting her at Dragon*Con, I decided to try on one of her stories. Well, I was incredibly blown away by how real she wrote these two! And it was an entirely believable plot taken from what Xander refused to tell Buffy about his semi-vaction between seasons 3 and 4. I never would have imagined Spike entering into his unheard tale, but this story makes me believe he did....and thus causing the rest of the rilvary that followed over the years. Congrats, Circe, for opening my eyes. If only for this story :)
