~ My Writing ~

This is my personal fiction, poetry, and fanfiction site! Welcome! I started writing when I was really young.

My fascination with writing started when I my first grade teacher read us a story about witches at Halloween. I loved the story so much that I wanted to keep a copy! So, I copied the whole thing on another sheet of paper! After that, I started making my poor little brother play publishing company! lol

Before I knew it, I was writing my own fiction in elementary school! In high school, I attended a writer's guild meeting with another boy in my class. He wanted to be a writer and a journalist, and I wanted to be a fiction writer! The monthly meeting was filled with older adults, most of whom were retired and writing novels and screenplays. We didn't fit in AT all, but the experience was entertaining!

In ninth grade, I wrote a story called, "The Chase." It was a very simple story (you can find it in original fiction), but a teacher thought I plagiarized it! I don't think it's that great, but she apparently thought it was too well written for a ninth grader!

In high school, I also participated in this competition called the Future Problem Solving scenario writing contest. We were given a futuristic scenario, and we had to write a fiction about how people in the future would handle the problem. For example, I wrote one about the ozone layer collapsing. I won second place in state for that one! lol

Then, in undergrad, I continued to write short stories and poetry! Some of them were published in the university creative writing magazine. And I won honorable mention for "Flight of the Eagle" (see original fiction).

In undergrad, I started noticing that I tended to put elements of the surreal, symbolism, and the fantastic in my stories. My English professor thought that I should be a writer but suggested that I should take out all those fantastical, surreal elements! But they were the reason I wrote in the first place, so I kept writing them into my stories!

In graduate school, I stopped writing for a while. I had a lot of experiences that influenced me greatly. Then, I found I had a lot to write about. When I discovered the world of Buffy and the world of fanfiction in fall of 2001, I read SO many stories! In June 2002, I realized...hey! I could write something like that! Hence, "Freedom of Choice" was written! And I've been writing fanfics ever since!

Hope that gives you some insight into the roots of my writing!
