Oy...you know how every once in a while, someone wants to know how you get inspired to write a piece, or what influenced a story? Well, if you've ever wondered that about my stuff, here's the place to find the answers.
All right, then...why do you write so much?
Pure boredom, I suppose. I tend to stay up late into the night, and I just write. Or work on this behemouth of a webpage.
You answer a lot of challenges. Why?
Sometimes I answer them because I'm blocked; things like Challenge In A Can tend to give me a quick spark of inspiration. When I was on You Got The Stones?, I answered the challenges there because either (a) they were assigned to me, (b) I was Gloveslapped, (c) it intrigued me or (d) because I was in the mood to write and was just idealess.
What's your favorite thing you've ever written?
You would have to ask a hard question, wouldn't you? I guess my favorite is...um...well, I love "Possible Second Chance". I suppose that's my favorite one-shot. My favorite series is "Farewell Letters" but my favorite story in a series is "Bumps & Bruises" from "The Giles Saga".
I kind of meant only one thing...
Well sue me. I've written a lot over the years.
How long have you been writing, anyway?
Fic wise? Since June or July, 1998. I used to skip my summer classes at my college and go to the computer lab to write fic, since at that point I didn't have the Internet at home. But I've been writing stories and poetry and stuff since I was about 6, so 1987 or so.
In "Pancakes," you mentioned you were pregnant. Boy or girl?
Healthy, very active and extremely intelligent little boy. As I write this (12/22/04), he's two.
Is he a Buffy and Angel fan yet?
Not really. He's more into "Harry Potter," older Disney movies and, not surprisingly, "CSI."
Is there any show/movie/book you like that you haven't done a crossover with?
If I could get up the courage, I'd love to do a crossover with David Eddings' "The Elenium" and "The Tamuli" trilogies. Never going to happen, most likely. I was also a big fan of "Birds Of Prey" and seethed for about a week when it got cancelled; if I can get a hold of some transcripts, I'll do a crossover. And I've been toying with a League of Extraordinary Gentlemen/A:tS crossover, since it'd be mostly Angel and Spike involved. I'd love to have Dorian Gray come to Wolfram & Hart as a ghost 100 years after he died because his contract got broken.
Just for the record, what crossovers have you done?
The Queen of the Damned movie, the Harry Potter book series, the more recent version of Fantasy Island (the one with Malcolm McDowell), Las Vegas, CSI (huge series coming up for this one that I'm co-writing with Aaronlisa) and if I can ever find it, Charmed.
What about your Law & Order one? You know, "Legal Hot Water"...
I knew I was forgetting at least one...
What music do you listen to when you write?
That's a long list. I listen to a lot of J-pop, like stuff by Bana, Ayumi Hamasaki, Mai Yamane and others, lots of stuff composed by Yokko Kanno. I love anime related music. It's so pretty. I also have a few random CDs around: Joydrop's "Metasexual," Switchfoot's "The Beautiful Letdown," Linkin Park's "Reanimation," Danger Mouse's "Thr Grey Album" and the soundtracks to Queen of the Damned and Resident Evil: Apocalypse. I also have many many MP3s on my computer: some rap (Xzibit, Chingy, Trick Daddy, Eminem), rock/punk (Green Day, A Perfect Circle, Sleater-Kinney, The Unadored), and lots of random stuff (Origa, The Killers, Outkast, Interpol, Gorillaz, Full Blown Rose, Prodigy). I have a lot more stuff, but that's what I listen to the most.
That's not a few.
Hence why I said at the beginning that it was a long list.
So...what influences you the most these days?
Since I don't write much anymore, it really depends. Sometimes I sign up for a ficathon and get a really good idea but the plot doesn't come out until way after it's due (forgive me, all those authors I've stiffed). Other times, things I see around me, characters on TV and movies, and lately music has been really inspiring.
