Oz smiled at his...not exactly girlfriend. They'd been dating, but... He couldn't explain it. He'd thought after Willow, he wouldn't find anyone he just clicked with.
And the perfect girl had been right under his nose. She'd been a rat for a bit, but back in her human state, she was beautiful. And smart, and funny...and very accepting
"So, are we ever going to get to dance?" Amy asked, pulling at Oz slightly and getting him out of his thoughts. He grinned at her as he stood up.
"Of course, Amy."
"Smashing Pumpkins...wonder why they played this song?" Oz asked Amy.
She shrugged a little. "Because I asked them to."
Oz pulled her closer to him, surprised. "And I'm glad you remember my favorite non-Dingoes song."
"Well, why wouldn't I? We've only been going out on dates for about four months. I know a lot about you."
"That's a good thing. And I know some things about you, too."
"Like what?"
"Well, I know you don't like talking about school, unless it's to complain, which I don't mind. And I know you want to meet Mark McGrath, and I also know that you like to be kissed softly and tenderly."
"Ooh, you're good. Let's see...I know you're infatuated with your guitar and mildly interested in me, you're a genius at being logical, and you're ticklish."
"I think I'm more than mildly interested in you, Amy."
"Hmmm...how much more than mildly interested?"
"To the point I want to officially ask if we could go steady."
Amy looked over in shock. "Wow. That, I wasn't expecting."
"So...the answer's no, I take it."
"No, silly. Of course I will," she said quietly, getting a grin from Oz. "So...we're dating dating? Like boyfriend and girlfriend now?"
Oz nodded. "Yeah...I never thought I'd have one again."
"But you do. That's a good thing," she said, hugging him as they swayed to the music.
"I'm hoping it is."
They continued to dance, both of them relishing their closeness, knowing tomorrow was a full moon, and Oz would be locked up.
And even when that wasn't going on, he still had the band, and she still had magic to deal with. So they didn't get much time together.
But when they did, they made it count.
"What are you thinking about?" Oz asked softly.
"Tomorrow...and how you'll be locked up."
"But you can see me during the day," he whispered in her ear.
"I just want to see you, that's all."
He pulled her back a little and kissed her softly. "I promise, you'll get to see me more often."
"That's good. Want to kiss me again?" she said, grinning at him, before leaning back towards him.
"Anytime."
They continued to kiss even after the song ended. She pulled back soon after, though. "What time is it?"
Oz looked at his watch. "Almost eleven thirty."
"I have to get home soon," she moaned. "Midnight curfew."
He nodded and led her off towards the door. It was a hard thing to do, but at least he knew that tomorrow, during the day at least, he'd get some more time with her. And that was a pleasant thought.
